The Yin of Yang.

I cannot count the times that everything good and amazing in life is countered by something bad.  I’ve lived my life waiting for the other shoe to drop, so to speak.  I have a constant worry that it’s all going to unravel somehow and balance what else is going on.  But all along the way, I think about how interesting its going to be as I watch it all happen.

After 2 months of it being in the shop, we got our car back out.  Spent $1,800 to get it fixed.  There is nothing as frustrating as getting into a car and hearing a click as you turn the key instead of the wonderful sound of an engine roaring to life.  We dealt with the problem for a very long time.  Finally we put it in, after a ton of things being fixed on it, we were excited to get the thing back.  I crawled into the car, and turned the key.  Ahhh, the wonderful sound of that click.... *sigh*

Why was I the only one laughing?  We paid two car payments on a car we couldn’t drive, that wasn’t in our garage, that wasn’t even in logistical walking distance.  And after so long to be in the car again, I half expected the completely competent mechanics at the dealership to have fixed the hugely complicated problem.  Turn the key, car won’t start, but only when its hot.  I found it a good joke.

Word of advice: If a mechanic is actually a good mechanic, he will own his own garage.

But this is how I always treat life.  I laugh at the silliness of it.  Being able to TELL the man who worked on your car for 2 straight months that, “It doesn’t matter how much you test drive it.  It drove great before we brought it in.  The real test is starting it after you drive it.”  In the end, after a few more hours of work, they found the problem to be a lose ground wire on the undercarriage.  We have the car back, it runs amazing, as it did before, but now it starts every time.  Ah, the things we take for granted.  And I fully believe that sitting at a repair shop for a few hours rants second in lousy times only to being stuck in airports for hours on end waiting.

All in all, that was yesterday, and today was a great day.  And everything has balanced back out.  Pessimistic Optimism.  Everything is going to go wrong in the plan, but we’ll muddle through and make the best of it, while watching in awe at how coincidence and luck and circumstance unraveled a great idea.  Life is a great great great ride.  I’m so happy for this life, it’s a riot.

So are you a pessimist or an optimist, or like me, some odd conglomeration?  I’m really curious to know so please comment below and tell us!
