(poem - Deeya) - Howl in the Night

For those of you who are reading, or have read Running With Wolves, the third chapter in the Ballad of the Emerald Bard Saga, you know that Aloucia of the Fae, and El'Mindeeya Do'Katal have a 'history' that's alluded to.  The following poem is a song Deeya wrote for Aloucia while they were together, way back when they were first exploring a romance together.  So please enjoy this glimpse into the beginning of their doomed relationship, long before Deeya realized that Aloucia was a being that belonged in the wild, that could never have any form of leash around her neck....

A wolf's howl
Deep within the night
I wonder if that's her
Calling out a plight

I was having a dream
About a flight of dragons
Terrorizing the world's
Little children

'tis not a dream that I miss her
I wonder if I'm falling
She's invading my thoughts
And I feel my heart changing

I wonder if we'll be
Together in the end
Or if we'll fail
And our hearts will rend

I know I've never been as warm
As I was cuddled in her cloak
Sleeping beautifully
Until we awoke

I miss her dearly
Every moment she's away
I wish I had the guts to tell her
Please, forever, with me here stay

Those icly blue eyes move me
In a way that cannot be explained
That whispy white hair
Resembling a wolf's mane

Dusky dark skin
I find I can't live without
I hope she's somewhere safe
This dark and dreary night.

I'll roll over
And cuddle my pillow
But the howl's sound lingers
Ebbing in my soul's echo.

Just remember, Deeya
Enjoy these moments well
The begnning of something large
Just before you heart swells.

And don't fear
And don't regret
This is only your heart
You are going to bet

Enjoy her howl
Enjoy her life
I'll show that beautiful wolf girl
How to dream, without strife.
